Over the past 4 decades, Alabama drug rehabilitation for alcohol and other drugs has proliferated and differentiated into several various clinical approaches to confronting the addiction problem.  Speaking in a historical perspective, this is a short period of time for the evolution of a medical science to address an issue of this nature.

Few private centers in Alabama existed that would keep alcoholics for longer amounts of time, but these treatment centers were generally wings of an existing hospital, and clinical imperative was focused on psychiatry and mental health disorders with addiction being treated as a secondary result of a primary mental disorder.

Medical detox in Alabama is reserved for important alcohol ingestion and the chronic use of barbiturates and certain other pharmaceutical drugs that are known to cause seizures. The individual addicted on these drugs need medical support to be stabilized from this form of addiction.
